Dearest readers, I visisted Yankee Stadium for the first time today. The weather was dicey and it poured in Connecticut this morning. We drove to the Bronx expecting the game would be called around 12:30 p.m. The weathermen were calling for flash flooding and heavy downpours. When we got to the Bronx the skies were still holding. We watched a great game and it didn't rain once. Mike Mussina pitched 8 scoreless innings and Mariano Rivera finished off the Minnesota Twins, 5-1. The giveaway prize for all kids today were Final Season t-shirts. Andrew had a tear in his eye as he gazed upon the House that Ruth Built for the last time. The new stadium looks fantastic but there is always something poignant about the destruction of anything with so many memories attached.
